Learn Account Management

Account Management is one of the most exciting jobs you can have in the digital space, especially if you like communicating with people. Account Managers have to wear so many hats, they are essentially the conduit from the client to the delivery teams. As an AM you will need to learn strategy, sales, and technology.

What is Account Management?

In the web service and digital product arena, Account Managers act as the go-between from the client to the delivery teams inside their organization. Being an account manager is a discipline that also entails understanding business objectives, how to sell, how to strategize, and ultimately how to be a good client advocate.

Make Money Remotely

Even though there are many companies promoting “return to office” policies after the pandemic, a true account manager can work from anywhere. All the tools needed to be an account manager are available online and digital communication mediums make it easy to connect with your clients or customers.

What are the Options?

There are many digital agencies and web firms that are looking for solid account managers to help organize their client accounts. Some product teams will have hundreds of clients that you’ll need to work with while others have only a handful of high value clients. Either way, the opportunity for dynamic account managers is still growing.

How Much Money?

It depends on how experienced you are, but I’ve seen entry-level account managers start at $40-$60k. If you have already worked in a client-facing capacity, then you could negotiate a much higher salary from $75k-$115k per year. But learn the Account Management trade first.
